Meet the founder
Hi, I’m Evan Kristine
I’m the founder of Meadow & Aisle. Before I started writing about weddings, I spent fourteen years in professional kitchens across Finland, from fine dining to running banquets in Helsinki, Vaasa and Tampere. Banquet work teaches you what makes a celebration feel easy for guests: good timing, good food and a room that feels warm. That is what I bring to every guide here, along with a real love for small weddings that put people first.
Why small
Weddings don’t need to be productions
Somewhere along the way, weddings started to feel like productions. Bigger guest lists, bigger budgets, more to manage and less time to be present. There’s a better way, and a lot of couples agree.
Here you’ll find intimate small wedding ideas for backyard celebrations, garden ceremonies, courthouse I-dos, cozy restaurant dinners and everything in between. Some guides are practical, like timelines, budgets and guest list wording. Others are pure inspiration, like tablescapes, bouquets and bridal style. All of them are written for weddings with fewer guests and more meaning.
The Meadow & Aisle style
Soft, natural and a little whimsical. Wildflowers on the table, warm candlelight, long shared tables and spaces that make guests feel welcome. Every idea leaves room for your own traditions, personalities and priorities.
What I believe
Three things I keep coming back to
- 01
Small isn’t scaled down
A small wedding isn’t a smaller version of a big one. It’s its own thing, with more time for each guest and more freedom to do it your way.
- 02
Budget is a design choice
Spend on what you’ll remember and skip what you won’t. A beautiful day comes from good choices, not a big number.
- 03
Guests over spectacle
The best weddings feel like the best dinner parties: warm, unhurried and full of people who are glad to be there.
How the guides are made
Every article starts with a real question couples ask while planning a small wedding. I research venues, costs, etiquette and styling, then write the kind of answer I’d want myself: clear, honest and practical. Older guides get updated when prices, trends or best practices change.
Meadow & Aisle is reader-supported. The site earns from display ads, and some posts include affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That never decides what I recommend. Read the full affiliate disclosure.
